Back to Montego Bay : RIU Reggae

Seriously, I’m so done with RIU resorts. This is the third one I’ve been to and I have yet to be even remotely impressed. The RIU Reggae Montego Bay was just built in 2016, if you haven’t read my other posts, the last time I went to Jamaica we stayed at the RIU Montego Bay.

The RIU reggae is a beautiful, modernly styled resort. It is very aesthetically pleasing. But there are several downsides.

First my room: So my balcony faced nothing, just some trees and a fence (WTF) there was a big group of us so there were no more upgrades when I checked in. Secondly, The bed was the most uncomfortable thing I may have ever slept on.

The Pool: This is an adults only resort, why are both pools only 3 feet deep. So if I want to be submerged to my shoulders in water, I have to either stand in a very wide legged stance, or be on my knees.

The entertainment: All of the damn trip advisor reviews rave about the entertainment during the day. Other than the foam party (which admittedly was pretty cool) there was next to no daytime poolside entertainment. Maybe everyone was on vacation when we showed up *eye roll*

It’s also worth noting, that Jamaica really doesn’t like the gays. People keep telling me this and I keep trying to give them a chance, but I’m super over it ( i really only go because my cousins like Jamaica). When my partner checked in (I wasn’t there, i missed my flight lol) they told her she couldn’t have a king bed because there were two women in the room. She had to speak to a manager and explain that we paid for a king room and would be sleeping in a king bed. Ain’t nobody got time for this.

The food was okay, most of the nicer restaurants have a set menu of appetizer entree and desert, I tried to skip the appetizer and desert and order two entree (due to portion sizes) and I was told I couldn’t do that. *another eye roll* I can say that never in my life have I had dinner at a restaurant and then went to the buffet.

I guess this has turned out to be more of a rant than a story, sorry y’all I just really hate shitty vacations.

I’m taking my ass back to Mexico if I want all inclusive.
